‍Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?”

Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Jesus is the greatest thing happening today. He is like a treasure hidden in a field. He is unmistakably different than everything around Him. He is more valuable than all our other ambitions, hopes, and possessions.

But how do we find Him? ‍Like Philip told his friend, "You just have to come see for yourself!" There's no way to explain a treasure, it must be seen and touched up close and personal.‍

And the first people my wife and I want to help discover the infinite wonder and worth of Jesus are our kids. We first learn how to inherit Jesus at home.

However, we've recognized a problem: that in the absence of a clear vision and a solid game plan for pursuing Jesus in normal family life, our family life can easily get dragged behind the other more tangible priorities of the season. School, soccer, birthdays, yard work, running errands, movies, and on and on.

So what's our vision of life with Jesus that we want our kids to see, too? What's our game plan for helping them inherit worthwhile things from us, like our faith, relationships, character, priorities, and worldview? How exactly do we hope our kids will 'catch' Jesus from us?

Our kids must encounter the living God personally. He is the One who will fill and transform them from the inside out. At the same time, God has given us an important role to play in this leg of their journey, as mom and dad. And we want to do it well.

‍This is the heart of Inheriting Jesus. To envision and structure our family culture, priorities, and lifestyle around the presence of Jesus and the pursuit of this hidden treasure called the Kingdom of Heaven.

As we work through what this means for our family, we also intend to support other families and individuals on the same journey. We hope and pray that Inheriting Jesus gives you a useful compass and some helpful tools to help you uncover the infinite wonder and worth of Jesus as well. He is the True and Good King, and in Him, we have a great inheritance.
